This book has many beautifully taken photographs of newborns, infants and toddlers. However, I cannot recommend this book to anyone looking to recreate the shots. Nearly all of the photos are done in a studio with flash in use. But the book doesn’t describe how any of the shots were set up. How many light sources were used? Where were the light source placed? How was the light modified (umbrella? light box? reflector?) Only an experienced professional photographer would be able to reverse engineer the shots. The book itself provides no guidance whatsoever.
It's a great book for ideas and inspiration, but it is lacking modern day poses that are appealing to today's clients. Overal good to spark your own creativity and build on them.
The pictures are worth the price of admission. I loved reading and looking at the examples to find uses in my work and personal pictures. A great source of information.
Lots of pictures together without any common criteria (in my opinion)
Some cute ideas for poses, if you can get the kid to cooperate! I like that it has individual, sibling and family poses.
These are inspirational ideas for the photographing of small children. They are not the be-all to end-all by any means since each child is different and will respond to requests to pose differently. The author presents some wonderful examples and suggestions that should be of great help to anyone wanting to photograph children either professionally or for one's own enjoyment.
Love this book.
