I forgot how much I love these DK Eyewitness Guides. They're so informative and to the point, small enough to carry with you to reference while traveling, plenty of pictures so you can quickly flip through and arrive upon what you're looking for (I don't like traveling and viewing things if I can't remember/recognize something). My upcoming trip to Egypt is an important one, so I'll definitely be using this there where normally I'd leave at home. Will be ordering their Jerusalem/Jordan (whatever combo of places it is) for the same trip as we're heading there as well. I also love that it's printed on high quality, sleek/shiny paper. It makes using/flipping through much easier and it holds up better to abuse when traveling. Highly recommend these books.
This guide has a lot of information, and beautiful "3D" maps. However it doesn't prioritize the sights in terms of what to visit first. I can generally use some advice on which are the most interesting or important things to visit, such as "Top 5 things to visit in Cairo", or "If you have 2 days in Cairo.. " etc.
DK Eyewitness travel books are seriously my FAVORITE type of travel books. I've used them in most of my travels and have never been disappointed. Each city is divided into sections that have a street-by-street view - this always comes in handy when wandering around a new city. Also, the building diagrams are very useful for navigating around a huge church or museum.This Egypt guide did not disappoint. There's background on the country as well as history at the beginning of the book, followed by the area-by-area breakdown, a travelers' needs section, and a survival guide. I know it will come in handy for my upcoming trip!
One, its an updated travel guide, which is very helpful, I learned about the new GEM musuem being built from this book, I'm traveling to Egypt at the end of the year and the museum is opening this year (2018). BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS, MAPS, INFORMATION, HISTORY, BASIC TRAVEL INFO. EVERYTHING. Even, traveling as a woman. Beautifully made! Buy it! You'll never regret it.
This book definitely helped & added to my learning & enjoyment of the Egyptian culture. Decent maps, good insights into the historical, & well laid-out to benefit any traveler heading to most parts of Egypt. It adds both contemporary & ancient facts & tips to help in your journey.
Great book! Love that they include colorful pictures and maps. I just wish they would include more information like the Lonely Planet book and I wish the Lonely Planet book would have colored pictures. These two books compliment each other.
Terrific and up-to-date guide for a beautiful place. Egypt has so much to offer and this book is an excellent guide and tool for preparation. Filled with history, customs, stories, maps, and of course- guides for travel.
Great guide book. Excellent source when we traveled with three young teenagers. We ripped out the parts for each city we visited and the kids enjoyed reading ahead as we traveled. Very accessible for them while still be a great resource for us while planning.
